PROJECT OVERVIEW

Helping grow literacy in special needs classrooms.

While working at Tobii Dynavox I worked on content for their, special education solution, Boardmaker. Its software helps teachers create custom teaching materials. It also has its own line of curriculum, developed by speech language pathologists, educators, and experts in the field. This curriculum was designed to teach language and literacy by slowly building vocabulary, starting with its core building blocks.

My goal was to transform the curriculum’s clinical content for teachers into an easy to navigate series of lesson plans and guides. In addition, our team of creatives was tasked with producing illustrations to make the materials engaging for students. I produced art for countless books, coloring pages, and learning activities.

A colorful approach was taken to appeal to elementary school teachers. The curriculum was presented as fun and easy for not just students but teachers.

Core First Learning

CFL is one of the lines of curriculum from Boardmaker. This set of books and lessons was available in print as well as through the Boardmaker software. Each set covered a group of essential vocabulary words and provided a series of books and activities to teach each word.
